Misfits Series
Part 1
Acts
4:13 says “Now when
they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were
uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had
been with Jesus”. Peter and John had been fishermen before they met Jesus. The
Sanhedrin probably looked at them the same way the Pharisee’s looked at Jesus.
They said isn’t this the son of a carpenter? Can anything good come out of
Nazareth? They were the misfits of their time, but something happened. Jesus
comes into their life and their whole world changed. Jesus would spend time
with them teaching them and training them. They received the power of the Holy
Spirit and prayed for a blind man that gets healed at the gate beautiful.
Something was different about these misfits! They were changed from within
their heart by the Holy Spirit and power! The Sanhedrin couldn’t refute that
because here the man born blind stood there in front of them testifying of Gods
goodness! A person with a testimony will always trump the person with an
opinion.
I
remember helping doing an outreach with some friends a few years ago in Mobile,
Alabama. This was a drug rehabilitation center and a Bible School that helps
people get free from addiction and eventually for ministry. I can’t remember
the person’s name in the picture above, but one of the students at the outreach
was wearing a shirt that caught my attention. I was totally drawn to what the
shirt said and its meaning. Here was a bunch of people that society had given
up on. I’m sure many of them were told that they would never live up to
anything and that they were worthless. In this outreach, I was witnessing really
a miracle from the Lord. Many of the folks came from all walks of life, but
they had one goal to come to the program to be free from what kept them
bound for so many years. Little did they know, The Lord was going to take what
the Devil meant for evil and turn it around for good (Rom. 8:28). The word was
misfits! These precious people who came from all walks of life were now cleaned
up by the Lord by His blood and were being trained for the ministry. They were
going into areas to help people get free from the same addictions that the Lord
had brought them out of. What the world sees as trash, God sees as
treasure! Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the
heart! (1 Sam. 16:7) These Misfits had been with Jesus and are now changing the
World one person at a time for the glory of the Lord!
Misfits arise! Let’s go take back the ground the enemy has stolen! It’s time!
